All yearning embittered, the flesh is shed, the Journey ends. AURVANDIL returns with "Thrones" carved in stone and snow, distillating the essence of soaring, northern purity throughout four hymns of Iron and Ice, four funereal storms summoned. Skyclad and possessed, AURVANDIL weaves a wyrd of holocaust.
Glacial Black Metal.
“Here, the contrast between light and dark is precisely what pushes this album beyond simply “another black metal album.” It is that discovery and purge of the darkest recesses of consciousness and existence that continue to push black metal not into one direction but many. For Thrones, that pathway leads to places whose most illuminated corners offer a beautiful but brief reprieve from the utter obscurity that awaits on the other side of melody.” STEEL FOR BRAINS
“A galloping and brilliant offering of black metal from this project that totally took me to another place as a listener. It's rare for a band I've never heard of to just come in and impress me in such a fashion, but that's exactly what happened here.”

A makeshift encampement, in its center a large bonfire. Around it, both men and women circle, coming together in combat meditation and readying themselves and their bodies for the inevitable. Some consume select mushrooms, staring into the fire and altering their mind, leaving behind their humanness for some hours and becoming berserks in the process. Their time has come: half-naked and armed to the teeth, the heathens' battlecry resounds. The horn is blown. Their enemies do not stand a chance. David Fischer
